Spreading surplus, reducing waste

FOODSHARE KERRY sign up with commercial outlets involved in food sales and production through out Kerry. We commit to collecting their surplus food in our purposely kitted-out van, saving them the cost of dumping perfectly good produce. This arrangement also saves the environment the burden of unnecessary dumping.

THE VAN delivers the food to our central depot in Tralee. This unit has all the necessary facilities, including refrigeration and chill areas, to deal with the produce. There it is sorted, graded and itemised by a team of volunteers who are experienced with warehousing codes of practice.
OUR PARTNER charities such as the St Vincent de Paul are regularly updated on what is available and are assisted in repackaging the foodstuff into familysized bags. Then, with quiet dignity, these experienced groups distribute it around the county to the families and people who need it most.
